Yang Ke wins the outstanding award of the competition.
On the afternoon of December 7, the 19th “21st century · Coca Cola” National English Speaking Competition Finals in Shanghai was kicked off at the the library of Fengxian campus of East China University of Science and Technology. Yang Ke, a Grade 2013 student from the Department of History of ECNU, won the outstanding award of the competition.
On behalf of Shanghai, Yang will compete with other outstanding award winners from various universities across the country in the national finals in April next year. Another competitor from ECNU, Hu Jiarui, from the English Department, won the first prize of the competition.

The 24 finalists of the competition were all competitive ones from more than 10 universities in Shanghai, who represented the highest English speech level of their universities. The competitors each aired their own views on the topic, “University as I See it”, which made the competition intense and exciting. Through the early trials, Yang Ke and Hu Ruijia were selected to participate in the competition, in which they both had excellent performances.

The 21st Century National English Speaking Competition has been successfully held for 18 times since it was first established by China Daily in 1996. As a domestic English competition of the highest level, it is strongly supported and highly valued by international authorities on English teaching and examination. And it has selected manly outstanding young people with excellent English and abilities from various fields.
