On Sept. 13, the opening ceremony for freshmen of International Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy (IM. Ed-ELP) Program was held at Minhang Campus.

During the ceremony, Lin Zaiyong, Vice President & Vice Chairman of the University Council, expressed his welcome and wishes to the 2013 new students on behalf of ECNU. He said ECNU would try best to improve international education faculty as well as to enhance its cooperation with other developing countries. In his address, Yu Zirong, deputy director of Department of Aid to Foreign Countries, Ministry of Commerce, highly affirmed the importance of IM.Ed-ELP Program in human resources cooperation and development among developing countries and he also praised the efforts of ECNU in this program.

As a representative of the new students of this program, Roxann Laurel Bhola from Grenada thanked Chinese government and ECNU for offering them the scholarship and chance to study here. She said this program provide a good opportunity for developing countries in their own education development and renovation. She also expressed their willings to spread Chinese culture.

IM.Ed-ELP Program is a one-year program approved and entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce as well as Ministry of Education, PRC. Since its establishment in 2010, the program has seen 71 graduates from 25 countries. In 2013, 31 students from 21 countries including Ethiopia, Bahamas, Pakistan, Panama, etc., will participate in the program.
