On the morning of July 1st, 2013 Commencement of International Master of Education Program for Developing Countries was held on Zhongbei Campus. 24 Students of 17 countries of Asia, Africa and Latino America received their degree certificates after 10-month study in ECNU.
The program started in September 2012 and it was the third time that ECNU had held International Master of Education Program for Developing Countries since three years before. 24 students completed the courses required for the program in ECNU in the past 10 months and all successfully passed the dissertation review and defense. The 24 students came from 17 countries, namely, the Bahamas, Grenada, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uruguay, Iraq, Pakistan, Liberia, Namibia and Botswana.

At the degree awarding ceremony, Ren Youqun, Vice President & Vice Chairman of the University Council, on behalf of all the students and teachers expressed congratulations to the program participants and thanks to teachers for the hard work and efforts they had made.
"Every one of you is your own country's disseminator. The past year has not only furthered our understanding of many Asian, African and Latino American countries, but also deepened the friendship among us. To promote the common development of education in China and Asian, African and Latino American countries, I hope all of you can be important messengers to boost the international collaboration, cooperation in education between China and your home country in the future," said Ren.

Sang Qi expresses congratulations to the students.
On behalf of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Sang Qi, Deputy Secretary-General of Shanghai Commission of Commerce, also expressed congratulations on the graduation of all the students. “Whenever people mention East China Normal University, it will remind them of the saying ‘ai zai hua shi da’, which literately means, ‘love in ECNU’. This love can have different interpretations, such as love for career, lover for students, love for the university, love for the people and the society etc. My dear friends, you have been immersed in ECNU for almost 10 months and I am confident that you will carry the ‘love’ back to your home country and make remarkable achievements in your work.”said Sang.

Excitement and joy could be felt everywhere of the commencement. For all the students of the program, the past 10 months was not only a special period of leaning but also an opportunity to understand China and its culture, and make friends with people from various countries. They recalled their happy and fulfilling life in ECNU with emotion and David Anthony Hopkin from Grenada even expressed his appreciation with a beautiful song at the end of his speech.
