On Aug. 4th -10th , 23rd World Congress of Philosophy was held in Athens. At the congress, The International Society for Metaphysics (ISM) held two round table meetings with themes on “Metaphysics at the crossroads of inter-subjective, intercultural, and inter-religious dialogue” and “Why metaphysics matters: the future of metaphysics?” on Aug. 6th and Aug 8th respectively. Re-election of the society was also held during the congress and Prof. Yang Guorong of ECNU was elected as the President of ISM.
International Society for Metaphysics (ISM) was founded in 1973. It is governed by a President, Vice President and a geographically representative Board of Directors, and its first President was Prof. H. D. Lewis of King’s College, London.
ISM is a professional learned society of philosophers. It is concerned with metaphysics understood as the philosophical study of reality, with special attention to the more profound issues of human and social life. In the past 40 years, ISM has initiated a series of world conferences and published many research papers with world influences.
