Young ECNUers Win Shanghai Municipal Awards

On May 15, the 2012 “Shanghai University Students of the Year” Award and the “Shanghai Mayor’s Award for Youth in Science and Technology” were respectively granted to Quan Pei, a freshman from Department of Chinese Language and Literature and Xiong Zhichun, a second year nanophysics postgraduate from Department of Physics. 

 

 

Quan Pei 

 

Quan Pei, a Tibetan, made up his mind to be a teacher in the future to help poor children in Tibet to change their life with education. He set up a Tibetan culture club to promote communication among different nationalities. He also organized a volunteer teachers team for Tibet in the past two years during which he raised supplies worthy of nearly 60,000 RMB for children in mountainous areas of Tibet.
   

 

Xiong Zhichun

 

Xiong Zhichun, a famous innovation guy among his friends, attended National College Students’ Innovation Annual Meeting twice early in high school. He led his team to won the special prize of the 12th "Challenge Cup" National College Students Contest of Extracurricular Academic & Scientific Design and gold medal of 8th "Challenge Cup" National Business Planning Contest for College Students. With 4 years’ hard work, his water treatment device based on MCDI membrane capacitance desalination technology finally brought them the business planning honor. Widely confirmed to be promising in the country’s energy-saving and emission-reduction projects, this invention has obtained 3 patents among which 2 are of national level.
