
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited ECNU and was awarded the title of honorary professor of the University on On April 11, 2013.
During the visit, Princess Sirindhorn visited Thai teachers and students learning Chinese in ECNU. She exchanged views with them and some future volunteer Chinese teachers for Thailand.
At the welcoming ceremony held in Zhongbei campus, President Chen Qun awarded the certificate of ECNU honorary professor to Princess Sirindhorn. Princess Sirindhorn delivered a thanks speech in fluent Chinese. She said that ECNU is a prestigious Chinese university with profound cultural background and solid educational foundation. She was very honored and happy to become a member of ECNU. Princess Sirindhorn pointed out that ECNU has played a very important role in the communication and cooperation between China and Thailand, two neighboring countries with deep friendship. She hoped that ECNU and Thai universities could further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future.
In recent years, ECNU has played a very important role in the fast developing Sino-Thai exchanges because of its Chinese education for Thailand. ECNU has undertaken Hanban’s programs of Training Chinese teachers and Volunteer Chinese Teachers for Thailand for years and has trained a large number of qualified Chinese teachers for the neighboring country.
