“Just like cooking, living and leaning cannot have a bright future without emotion.” Martin Yan, the most famous Chinese chef in the world, shared the wisdom of living and cooking with ECNU students on March 13 at ECNU.

 

  

                                            ECNU Vice President Lu Jin granted Martin Yan an honor certificate.

 

On March 13, Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education invited Martin Yan to give a lecture for more than 200 students who were going to teach Chinese in Thailand as volunteers. The institute hoped the volunteers could teach the Thais not only the Chinese language but also the Chinese culture including the Chinese dishes.

“Yan can do, so can you!” Yan's lecture with emotion and humor impressed almost all the audience. At the end of the lecture, Yan taught the students to cook the traditional Chinese dish, Kong Pao Chicken, Spicy Diced Chicken with Peanuts. His exquisite cooking skills and the delicious dish itself made the lecture hall full of laughter, cheers and exclamation.

 

Martin Yan, a Chinese-born American chef, has hosted his award-winning cooking show Yan Can Cook in the United States since 1978. As his shows have been broadcast in over 50 countries, Yan has become the most famous Chinese chef in the world and introduced the Chinese culture around the world with his popular cooking shows.
