President Chen Meets Delegation of University of Lyon

On January 8, President Chen Qun met the visiting delegation of University of Lyon led by Jan Matas, executive director of the International Union of the University of Lyon, on Zhongbei Campus. The major purpose of the delegation was to deepen projects cooperation in the Sino-French Joint Research Institute for Science and Society (JoRISS).

 

On behalf of ECNU, Chen first expressed the appreciation to the University of Lyon for its support to JoRISS. After the introduction to the internationalization strategy of the University of Lyon with the focus of its regional cooperation and trilateral cooperation strategies, Matas said the University of Lyon would support the development of JoRISS as before. During the meeting, both sides also discussed about how to further cooperation, set up an ECNU in Lyon studio of JoRISS Project and form a trilateral cooperation style in detail.

 

Members of the visiting delegation including Jean-Michel Roy, a professor of philosophy of the ENS de Lyon, and Nicolas Phillibert, a representative of the office of University of Lyon in ECNU, as well as Ren Youqun, ECNU Vice President & Vice Chairman of the University Council, and directors from ECNU’s relevant departments also attended the meeting.

 

Sino-French Joint Joint-Research Institute for Science and Society (JoRISS) is an international multidisciplinary research platform set jointly by the ENS de Lyon, CNRS (the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifque), and ECNU in August 2010. As a multi-domain research structure, JoRISS mainly hosts joint projects in nature and life science (chemistry, life sciences, and social sciences). In the past two years, professors of both sides have made fruitful cooperation through carrying out joint research projects, holding scientific symposium, and publishing high level papers in alliance.
