On January 3, a delegation from International Studies Learning Center (ISLC) in Los Angeles visited ECNU. Ren Youqun, Vice President & Vice Chairman of the University council, met the delegation and exchanged the development of Chinese teaching and the training of Chinese language teachers in both sides.
Made up of proctor of the Los Angeles Unified School District, dean of ISLC in Los Angeles, president of Confucius institute of UCLA as well as teachers and students from ISLC and other local Confucius institutes, the delegation was invited by Hanban, Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language with the aim to make friendly visits to Beijing and Shanghai. The delegation’s itinerary in Shanghai including classes on Chinese culture and cultural research was organized by ECNU’s Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education.

International Studies Learning Center (ISLC) is a WASC accredited span school, grades 6 -12, with approximately 850 students, in District 6 of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Their vision is to inspire and prepare global citizens. As a small learning community, their curriculum is based on the California State Standards with an emphasis on world cultures and languages.
