ECNU Holds 6th International Culture Festival

On December 5, the 6th International Culture Festival of ECNU ended in the gala held at Zhongbei Campus with 150 students from about 20 countries performing in 16 programs.

Nearly 20 consulate officials who had once studied Chinese in ECNU were invited to the show: Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Shanghai, Pavol Sykorcin, Slovak consul general in Shanghai, and Irina Beleva, Consul General of Bulgaria in Shanghai. And officials from the Shanghai municipal government and the international students’ management departments of other universities in Shanghai also attended the party. University leaders Tong Shijun, Chen Qun, Luo Guozhen, Ren Youqun and Fan Jun also watched the show which was first on live in the electric screen in both Zhongbei and Minhang Campuses.

The performances began with the prevalent dance “Gangnam Style” by the Hip-hop Club and then proceeded with many exotic dances and singings by students from many countries like Vietnam, Mongolia, America, Turkey, Japan, and Ukraine and so on. In the end,“Coolest Ethnic Style”, a very popular Chinese song among the youngster, concludes the gala in a lively melody.

The annually held International Culture Festival has become a tradition in ECNU since 2007. With different themes in each year, the Festival shows various charm and characteristics every time it’s on. This year, the theme is “ECNUers like families, Whether Chinese or not”, which aims to make international students feel at home in the University.
