| Each year at this time, East China Normal University provides members of the University with music and joy with its new year concert, and this year is no exception. 2013 New Year Concert held on December 28 evening at Zhongbei campus became the most cheerful way for all ECNUers to say goodbye to 2012. Preluded with two dynamic choral dances, the concert easily attracted all audiences’ interest. Besides its tradition of performing classic music, the concert also presented some cheerful and special performances, which made the concert more like a party of joy. Audiences not only enjoyed elegant music but also enlarged knowledge of some instruments as Ms. Tang Zhinuo, a youth flutist and a teacher from the Department of Music, and her students made a brief introduction of flute with performance besides their wonderful performance of the suite of L'Arlesienne, and the brass band presented the timbres of all the music instruments in the band after an exquisite ensemble performance to bring more direct auditory feeling to all the audiences. The emotional and excellent conducting of the concert conductor, Chang Lin, an American Chinese and vice director of the Department of Music, expressed sincere love to the country and moved all the audiences. The interesting interaction in a folk song duet between the audiences and the singers made the concert into a sea of joy, while the song of My Chinese Heart showed the best new year greetings to all ECNUers who study or live in foreign countries. All the programs were so amazing that no one wanted to leave when the conclusion music was completed. Even after several encores, the audiences were still unsatisfied. With the concert host’s advice, the orchestra played the famous delightful symphony Cancan, which brought all the enthusiasm of the audience’s participation and put the concert into its climax.
