Chen Qun and Amrhein renew the Memo of Cooperation between ECNU and the University of Alberta.
On December 1, President Chen Qun met with the visiting Provost and Vice President of University of Alberta, Carl Amrhein. The main purpose of this visit was to renew the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities and discuss substantive cooperation in the future.
During the meeting, Chen introduced the latest development, especially the international cooperation and predominant disciplines of ECNU to the guest. Amrhein introduced the predominant disciplines of University of Alberta and their cooperation with Chinese universities.
Both sides summarized the cooperation between the two universities in academic research and communication among teachers since the memorandum of cooperation signed in October, 2007.
Thereafter, Chen and Amrhein renewed the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities and exchanged opinions on developing further cooperation in new fields with new patterns, and the summer internship programs for undergraduates.
Located in Ed Manton, capital of Alberta Province of Canada, the University of Alberta was founded in 1908. The University of Alberta consistently ranks among the top five universities in Canada and among the top public research universities worldwide. Besides the 89-hectare main campus, it has a large research land covering 5,000 hectares with 400 laboratories including the best laser laboratory and scanning electron microscope laboratory. Besides, the university has one of the largest research libraries systems in North America and the library system ranks first in Canada in terms of the number of volumes per student.
