The founding ceremony of the Yangtze Delta Institute of Vocational Education Development of ECNU was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province on October 25. Prof. Shi Weiping, head of the ECNU’s Institute of Vocational Education and Adult Education, was appointed the first director of the institute.

In his speech at the ceremony, ECNU President Chen Qun pointed out that the founding of the Yangtze Delta Institute of Vocational Education Development meant not only a new style of cross-regional cooperation in education, but also an important attempt of integrating resources for a harmonious development of education. He hoped ECNU could give full play to its advantages in vocational education disciplines and make close cooperation with Wuxi Vocational Education Park to promote resources sharing in the vocational education of the Yangtze Delta.
As a comprehensive institution of research, training, and education, the Yangtze Delta Institute of Vocational Education Development of ECNU are divided into five parts, namely, Research Center of Yangtze Delta Vocational Education Development, Research Center of Vocational Education Park, Research Center of Regional Planning of Vocational Education, Research and Development Center of Vocational Education Services and an Advisory Committee of Experts.
To make itself a think tank for policy makers of vocational education development in Yangtze Delta and the country, as well as a collaborative innovation source for reform of vocational education, the Yangtze Delta Institute of Vocational Education Development of ECNU will improve its competence in services for vocational education, talents training, and international cooperation.
