Loy Kra Thong Celebrated in ECNU

The traditional Thai festival Loy Kra Thong is celebrated by Liwa River.

 

Thai festival Loy Kra Thong was celebrated at the dusk of October 26 by Liwa River. Vice president Fan Jun along with Consul-General Miss Buskorn Prugsapongs and Deputy Consul-General Mrs. Hataya Khusakul of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Shanghai attended the opening ceremony chaired by Zhang Jianming, the deputy executive director of Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education.

 

More than 100 Thai students from the Global Chinese Language Teacher Education as well as teachers and students of ECNU were invited to this event which as Fan Jun and Miss Buskorn Prugsapongs said to have provided a good chance to promote mutual understanding and exchange between China and Thailand.

 

In preparation for this occasion, a distinctive show of Thai culture was presented in the first floor of the building of Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education.

 

Loy Kra Thong is a traditional festival annually held in Thailand by nightfall on December 15 according to the Thai calendar. The Thais float river lanterns on that day to wish a better life.
