Delegation led by Maine Governor Visits ECNU

President Chen Qun and Vice Chairman of ECNU Council & Vice President Ren Youqun meet with the delegation led by Governor Lepage.

To have a better understanding of Shanghai's higher education and promote exchanges and cooperation between Maine universities and ECNU, a delegation led by Paul R. Lepage, Governor of the State of Maine in the United States, visited ECNU on September 14.

ECNU President Chen Qun met with the delegation and had a discussion with the guests, giving an outline on ECNU's education, disciplines and research development. During the talk, Chen's introduction of ECNU's international cooperation, especially its construction of international education park, aroused much interest in the guests.

After a brief introduction of Maine, Governor Lepage said he had been attaching great importance to improving the quality of education in Maine, and he hoped Maine universities and ECNU would build closer ties and more cooperation in the future for cultivating excellent talents adapt to the globalization together.

Afterwards, the delegation accompanied by Vice Chairman of ECNU Council & Vice President Ren Youqun visited the School of Design. The delegation also included the president of Maine International Trade Center, chief Vice Commercial Consul of U.S. Consulate General Shanghai, representatives of Maine universities, and the executive vice president of U.S. International Education Exchange Association, etc.

Paul R. Lepage is the 74th Governor of Maine, serving since 2011. Before that, he had served as mayor of Waterville from 2003 to 2011.
