On August 15th, the launching ceremony of “ECNU-Wilson Center America studio for cold war studies” was performed in Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. Vice president of ECNU Zhu Ziqiang and executive vice president of Wilson Center Van Dusen delivered speeches and exchanged cooperation documents. Zhu pointed out that the cooperation would make good opportunities for Chinese young students to study the West, especially America and it also would be conductive for scholars from both sides to further understanding and go forward hand in hand. The program would create a new mode for educational and academic exchanges of both sides in 30 years. Dr. Van said that with great importance attached to this creative program with ECNU, Wilson Center had set up a special office for scholars from ECNU to study in it. The cooperation would contribute to promote the understanding between China and the United States. Experts and scholars present also agreed that it was a creative program that could promote the academic exchange between two countries.
Both sides will irregularly hold prospective and creative cold war history professional international conferences and small-scale workshops. Both will cooperate to file and translate the archives and documents of each country’s cold war history.
