At the 26th Summer Universiade which came to an end in Shengzhen on August 23th, the aerobics athletes of our university swept all the others, collecting five gold medals from six. Thus with 7.5 gold medals, our university ranked fourth on the medal table of Chinese universities(one medal for each in pair event; half for each in team sports). During the Universiade, Lu Jing, vice president of ECNU, came to watch the live competitions and cheer our coaches and athletes on behalf of our university.
At this Universiade, Professor Zhou Yan, from physical education and health department of ECNU, was the head coach of China aerobics team. And the four students Tao Le, Che Lei, Zhen Ziya and Geng Ruowei, who majored in sports training from ECNU education and health department and now world champions of aerobics, attended the competition as members of Chinese aerobics through layers of selection. Through three days’ intense competitions, our aerobics athletes won five gold medals in team sports, mix-double event, group exercises, step aerobics and aerobic dance by the tacit cooperation and tenacious struggle together with other members. Among them, Tao Le won four gold medals at the Universiade, which made him the athlete taking the most gold medals. They have won honor for our country and Shanghai university students and offered a big present for 60th anniversary of ECNU.
