Academician of American Academy of Engineering Wu Jianfu Appointed our Honorary Professor

Academician of American Academy of Engineering Wu Jianfu was appointed our Honorary Professor in the afternoon of October 29th, 2010. The appointment ceremony was held on our Minhang Campus. Vice President Ren Youqun and Director of International Exchange Division Ding Shuzhe attended it. Dean of School of Finance and Statistics Wang Rongming presided over it.

 

First of all, our vice President Ren Youqun granted him the letter of appointment on behalf of our university. He congratulated him on being our honorary professor and gave him a warm welcome.

 

After that Mr. Ding made a brilliant speech, pointing out that “honorary professor” project is one of the strategies we adopt to promote our internationalization.

 

In the end, Professor Wu gave us a report titled “Sequential Minimum Energy Designs: From Nano Experiments to Global Optimization”. And then he had a discussion with the audience.

 

Professor Wu Jianfu is a well-known statistician, making outstanding achievements in many fields, who had won the top prize of world statistics community – COPSS in 1987.
