Professor Ma Longsheng of our university was given the Rabi Award of 2010 IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium held in the U.S. on June 2nd. It was for his decisive contribution to the development of optical clocks, of fs-laser spectroscopy, and to the refinement of frequency measurement into the 19th digit of precision.
In 2004, as the first author, Professor Ma had published a paper titled “Optical Frequency Synthesis and Comparison with Uncertainty at the 10-19 Level” on the famous journal Science. In 2005 the Nobel Prize winners for physics cited his research result.
Rabi Award was named after the 1944 Nobel Prize Winner Rabi, aiming at commending the great researchers in the field.
