Recently, leaders of Cambridge University in Britain, École normale supérieure - Paris, and Singapore State University visited East China Normal University respectively, having friendly discussion on bilateral cooperation.
Professor Ian Leslie, vice President of Cambridge University, visited our university from April 29th to 30th. Our Chancellor Zhang Jishun and President Yu Lizhong met him. During the meeting, we had round table discussion with him, talking about “the innovation, incubation, industrialization, and sustainable development of science and technology”. After the meeting, he visited two state key laboratories located in our university – state key laboratory of estuarine and coastal research and state key laboratory of precision spectroscopy. He was greatly impressed by the research potential of those two laboratories. Our vice President Chen Qun and vice President Zhu Ziqiang also took part in the meeting.
Dr. Chen Zhuquan, President of Singapore State University, visited our university on April 30th, 2010. Our President Yu Lizhong, vice President Chen Qun, and leaders from the International Exchange Division and School of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language also attended the reception. In the afternoon, President Yu went to Helen Hotel to see the President of École normale supérieure - Paris. The two parties reached an agreement on co-training graduates and co-building research institute.
It is reported that those presidents mentioned above, together with presidents from over thirty universities such as Yale University, Oxford University and Stanford University, all attended the fourth Sino-Foreign University President Forum held at Nanjing, China on May 1st, 2010.
