President of Malawi Visited East China Normal University and was Engaged as our Honorary Professor

President of Malawi Bingu wa Mutharika visited East China Normal University on May 2nd, 2010. He was also engaged as our honorary professor. After the engagement ceremony, he made a speech titled “the chances and challenges of the development of Africa and Sino-African Relations”.

 

Our Chancellor Zhang Jishun and President Yu Lizhong gave his delegation a warm welcome. During the meeting, Zhang introduced the prosperous momentum of our university and the endeavour we have made to promote our internationalization, expressing that we wish to further cooperate with the educational counterparts in Malawi. On behalf of our university, Zhang sent them the 2010 Shanghai Exposition Souvenirs designed by teachers in our university as gifts.

 

In the engagement ceremony, Zhang conferred the honorary professor certificate to him. President Yu Lizhong presided over the ceremony. President Mutharika said that it’s a great pleasure to be engaged by East China Normal University, hoping that further cooperation would be carried out between East China Normal University and other universities in Malawi.

 

In the end, accompanied by Zhang and Yu, President Mutharika visited our School of Software.
