President of University of Wisconsin Carolyn Biddy Martin headed a delegation to visit our university on April 1st, 2010. Our Chancellor Zhang Jishun and President Yu Lizhong met them.
The delegation included CEO and Chairman of Wisconsin University Alumni Association Paula Bonner, Dean of School of International Studies Gilles Bousquet, Director of Morgridge Research Institute Sangtae S. Kim, Deputy Dean of School of Literature and Science Jose Madera, and many professors from departments of politics, laws and kinetics. Zhang Jishun expressed warm welcome to their visit, hoping that further cooperation would be carried out between the two universities.
After the reception, President Yu Lizhong had a series of meeting with them. Each university was introduced and a cooperation memorandum has been signed. Deputy Dean of our Research Institute of International Relations and Regional Development Liu Jun, deputy Dean of Si-mian Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities Xu Jilin, Professor Liu Qin of our Department of History, vice director of Academic Affairs Division Chen Lingxi, and director of International Exchange Division Ding Shuzhe all attended the meetings.
After the meeting, accompanied by President Yu, President Martin made a brilliant speech on “Strategic direction of US higher education and Wisconsin Ideas” to our students on Minhang Campus.
On April 2nd, 2010, the delegation went for Yifu Building and made a report. President Yu and President Martin answered the questions from the journalists respectively.
