Students and Teachers of Yale University Held Winter Camp at ECNU

01/05/2010

At the very beginning of 2010, our office for international students received the delegation of Yale University, which was led by its president assistant Ms. Wang Fang and representative of international affairs Ms. Shearer. They would live at ECNU for eight days.

In the opening ceremony, our President Yu Lizhong made a brilliant speech, giving a warm welcome and introducing ECNU to them. Ms Wang Fang, on behalf of Yale University, expressed heart-felt thanks for our delicate course design and hospitality, saying that it would be a good opportunity for their students to know more about China and understand Chinese culture, economy and college students more thoroughly through the “Yale 50 China Trip”.

The winter camp program was invited by Ms. Liu Yandong, member of the political bureau of the central committee of the Communist Party of China and state councilor. It is the first time for the 47 Yale students to go to Shanghai for short-term exchanges and study. When they came to Beijing, they were all met by Liu Yandong. ECNU was the final winner of this program, which showed our reputation in the areas such as educational administration for international students and short-time exchange programs.

The students lived and studies at ECNU for eight days. During their visit, they participated in many interesting activities, discussing the news and Chinese culture using simple Chinese. Over 20 volunteers of our university took part in the whole program, bridging the gaps between American and Chinese students and experiencing the heterogeneity of different cultures.
