Discovery by Li Zhen etc.: Wars Caused the Fire which was Inconsistent with the Climate Changes

Many scholars argued that large-scale forests had been burned for land reclamation in the past one thousand years, which heavily interrupted the natural growth and circulation of forests and carbon storage. And it further led to the changes of changes of climate and environment for human life. Associate Professor Li Zhen of our State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research, and his co-worker thought that wars were the cause of the fires at that time. They published a paper on Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) on July 14th, 2009, conjecturing the old point and opening a new perspective.
