National Day was a day when the whole nation joined in the jubilation. Our Students’ Centre, Great Hall, and dinning halls were full of students watching the National Day Military Review on live. Vice Chancellor and vice President Lin Zaiyong went to Students’ Home on Minhang Campus, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China together with over 1,000 students.
At 8 o’clock on October 1st, many students came in spite of the heavy rain to the TV room for better seats. One junior student of the School of Kinetics and Health told the journalist that he came here about 7 o’clock, because he wanted to watch the military review clearer. On the whole, all seats were occupied later in the Report Hall of C Area and Activity room. Several students even stood at the narrow corridors to watch TV. There were students of many nationalities, waving the Five-starred Red Flags, singing songs, cheering and clapping hands. The atmosphere was really exhilarating.
Watching the military review was more exciting. One student of the School of Mathematics said, “I’d like to see so many new weapons. I’m very proud of my country. Our national defense is very strong, strong enough to defense our great motherland. Nothing can surpass the feelings of being born in a great country.” Another student of Department of Geology said, “The military review is great. Two years later, I’ll become a teacher. And I hope that I can devote myself to my work, just like the brave soldiers in the march. I love China, and I want to train more talents for her.”
