Co-research Institute Founded by ECNU and ENS Group

Co-research Institute of Sciences and Society was founded by ECNU, ENS Lyon (Technology) and ENS LSH on our North Zhongshan Road Campus on May 20th. President of ENS LSH Jacques Samarut, Consular-general of France in Shanghai Thierry Mathou and our President Yu Lizhong attended the ceremony. It was presided over by our vice President Chen Qun.

 

The founding of the research institute was a landmark of the cooperation between ENS Group and ECNU. And a third research centre is on the way.

 

President Yu pointed out that the significance of the research institute was great, hoping that we could further develop relationship with ENS Group.

 

“ECNU had given me the first chance to visit China”, said Jacques Samarut, “And the founding of the institute strengthened our cooperative partnership.

 

Thierry Mathou said in his speech that the research institute would become a model of Sino-French cooperation on the level of higher learning. And he also promised that he would discuss with Mayor Hanzheng of Shanghai on cooperation, when Han visited to France in the future.

 

In the ceremony, Jacques Samarut and Yu Lizhong signed the cooperation agreements. After it, an international forum on Dynamics and Sustainability of City was held. It was moderated by Professor Yves Winkin and Professor Ning Yuemin.
