Bulgarian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Visited ECNU

Ivailo Kalfin, foreign minister and vice prime minister of Bulgarian, visited China on the invitation of our foreign minister Yang Jiechi. During his visit, he came to our university on March 24th and held a post of professor here.

 

ECNU is one of the key universities in the 985 program for higher education in China. Our studies on central and eastern Europe and the transformation of international community are carried on in fine tradition. During the meeting, President Yu Lizhong, on behalf of our university, gave a warm welcome to him, and granted him the letter of appointment. President Yu said that it was a great honor for us to retain him. And he wished that this visit would further develop the relationship between ECNU and Bulgarian education and research communities.

Ivailo Kalfin is not only an influential statesman, but also an excellent scholar, who has made substantial attainments in the field of economics and politics. He is dedicated to regional cooperation in Black Sea area. When he visited our university, he gave us a brilliant lecture titled “The Role of the Black Sea Region and Bulgaria’s Contribution to its Stability and Development”.
