6th Forum for Contemporary Australian Writers Held at ECNU

The 6th Forum for Contemporary Australian Writers was held by Consulate General of Australia in Shanghai and our Centre for Australian Studies in our university on March 10th.

 

Our president assistant Ren Youqun, Australian Consul General in Shanghai Tom Connor, and vice Consul General Dene Yeaman all attended the forum and made speeches. Dean of School of Foreign Languages Zhang Chunbai, dean assistant Guo Ran, director of Centre for Australian Studies Cheng Hong, vice director Hou Minyue, chief manage of the centre Li Hui, together with over 100 students from Department of English, Department of Geology, Department of Physics and School of Resources and Environment, all came for the forum. Chen Hong gave a keynote speech and presided over the forum.

 

Professor Henry Reynolds, one of the most outstanding Australian historians, gave a keynote speech. He looked back at the history of the aboriginals, and elaborated his idea from a new perspective, which was to face the conflicts between the white and the black while study the history and culture of the aboriginals.
