On the morning of Feb. 26, President Yu Lizhong met Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defense of the Republic of Singapore, and his delegation of 12 members (including heads of School Division, Planning Division and Higher Education Division of Minister for Education and principals of primary and secondary schools). This visit was aimed at investigating and comprehending the operational mode of the Training Center for High School Principals at ECNU and its cooperation programs with Singapore’s universities and secondary schools, thus strengthening ties between the two parties.
It is said that Singapore's Minister for Education and the Training Center for High School Principals at ECNU have already started a series of cooperation. The Training Center has assisted Singapore's Minister for Education to arrange several visits and investigations in Shanghai for Singapore’s school delegations; Singapore’s secondary school principals, including those from Nanyang Girls' High School, Nan Hua High School, Dunman High School and some other well-known secondary schools, have been present at “The Forum of Chinese and International Renowned School Principals” held by the Center every year since 2005; In addition, sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Education Committee, a Master degree class was jointly launched by the Training Center and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The first group of 20 principals of primary and secondary schools chosen and sent by the Training Center are now studying in Singapore.
