The 4th New Year’s Meeting of Japanese Studies Successfully Held

At the beginning of 2009, the annual New Year’s Meeting of Japanese Studies was held in the Principal Training Centre in East China Normal University. In the afternoon of February 13th, more than 60 people, including researchers of Japanese Academic Society in Shanghai, scholars of Japanese Studies from each university in Shanghai and journalists, attended this meeting.

 

The seminar mainly focused on the influence of international financial crisis on the Sino-Japanese relationship, and the strategies and exploring of Japanese Studies and Japanese Education in Shanghai. Many scholars made brilliant reports, including Professor Yu Pengnian of Japanese Academic Society in Shanghai, Professor Wu Jinan who is the vice director of Shanghai Research Institute of International Issues, Professor Wang Shaopu who is the director of Japanese Study Centre in Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Professor Tan Jinhua who is the deputy president of Shanghai International Studies University. The 4 experts elaborated their thinking from different perspective concerning political culture, Sino-Japanese relationship, international economy and Japanese education. The people present had heated discussions on financial crisis, Sino-Japanese relationship, Japanese education, volunteer issue in Shanghai World Expo on the basis of the speeches provided before.

 

The New Year’s Evening Party was presided by Professor Xu Minmin. This activity created a platform for the researchers on Japanese Studies and scholars dealing with Japanese teaching to communicate and further explore.
