Academician of American Academy of Sciences Gave Lectures for our Cao Xihua Mathematical Forum

Richard P. Stanley, academician of American Academy of Sciences, mathematical professor of MIT, and keynote reporter of 2006 International Congress of Mathematicians, visited our university from January 2nd to 18th. He gave two brilliant academic lectures to our teachers and students on January 6th and 8th respectively.

 

Professor Richard P. Stanley graduated from Californian College of Science and Technology in 1966, got his doctoral degree in Harvard University in 1971 and become a teacher in MIT in 1973. Now he is professor of Applied Mathematics, academician of American Academy of Art and Sciences, and academician of American Academy of Sciences. In 1975 he was granted Pólya Awards by SIAM. In 2001 he got Steele Mathematical Presentation Award. In 2003 he was given the Schock Prize by Sweden Royal Academy of Sciences. On August of 2006, he was invited to give a one-hour report in the International Congress of Mathematicians held in Madrid of Spain. Professor Stanley has done a lot of creative work in the field of mathematics, which promoted the development of theories and stimulated the progress of related sub-divisions of mathematics.

 

This was his second time to visit our university. He gave two brilliant academic lectures to our teachers and students on January 6th and 8th respectively.
