Research and Training Base of National Hanban for Chinese Teachers was founded in our university on December 20th. The base, attracting many intelligences to promote Chinese world-wide, will dedicate to building a platform for international Chinese education theory and practice, and to provide all-dimensional service and support to various work about global Confucius institutes and other promoting activities. Pre-Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, our professor-in-residence, and director of the base Mr. Xu Jialu, director of the National Hanban Xu Lin, our President Yu Lizhong, vice director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Zhang Minxuan, vice President Zhuang Huiming, vice President Chen Qun and many others attended the founding ceremony. It was presided over by Chen Qun. Xu Jialu, Xu Lin, Yu Lizhong and Zhang Minxuan together announced the founding of the base.
Up to now, thanks to the support of the National Hanban, our university has built 5 Confucius institutes in America and Italy, spreading Chinese culture actively and positively. In particular, our School of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language has won world-wide reputation for its great efforts on training under-graduates, post-graduates and doctoral students to promote the Chinese abroad and localize overseas teachers.
It is reported that some other leaders, such as leaders of the National Hanban, Beijing Normal University and related departments of our university, also attended the ceremony. Some scholars from America, Korea, Australia and Vietnam took part in it, too.
The 1st council meeting of the base was held that afternoon, which was presided over by Mr. Xu Jialu. In the meeting, the list of the members in the council and charter for the council was discussed and written down. The members voted for the charter. Our Chancellor Zhang Jishun became the director of the base, and President Yu Lizhong and vice President Chen Qun both vice directors.
According to the charter, the main task of the base includes degree training of local excellent teachers, long term and short term training for localized excellent teachers and teams, scientific researches and academic exchanges for promoting Chinese internationally, net-work building of international Chinese Education web and teacher training.
