12/12/2008

President Yu Lizhong and vice president Chen Qun met vice president of Manchester University, dean of School of Humanities, Professor Alistair Ulph and other 2 people in his delegation in the morning of December 8th.

After introducing each other’s history, features of disciplines, and the plan for development, the two parties signed a memorandum for students’ exchange. It was aimed at expanding students’ knowledge, strengthening their inter-cultural communicative competence and furthering their understanding of international issues through learning overseas.

In the discussions afterwards the two parties focused on the “2+2” Model of educating dual-major undergraduates in some disciplines of the two universities, sending doctoral students to Manchester University for doctor’s degree or training in the framework of 985 Program, co-researching innovatively in the fields of Urban Development Planning, and some issues concerning the selection, number, period and expenditure of students’ exchange the next year.

After the meeting, the delegation visited our International Education Centre, and asked for some information about the international students in the centre.
