International Research Centre on Primary Education Textbook Held Seminars on Scientific Education Research

Seminars on Scientific Education Research hosted by our International Research Centre on Primary Education Textbook and Department of Chemistry were held in our Science Building from November 20th to 21st. Nearly 100 teachers and studetns from schools or departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology came there, listening to associate Professor Liu Xiufeng’s lectures, who comes from SUNY Institute at Buffalo in America. They also had heated discussions under the guidance of Professor Wang Zuhou from Department of Chemistry.

 

Doctor Liu Xiufeng, now a tenured associate professor of New York State University,  graduated from our graduate school in 1986. He is now in charge of many important issues. And he is the editor of Journal of Research in Science Teaching and Journal of Science Education and Technology. He is dedicated to doing researches on student scientific development conception. As a leader in the field of international scientific education assessment and evaluation, he had undertaken many projects sponsored by American National Science Foundation, achieving fruitful results. He published many academic works such as Introduction to science assessment, Applications of Rasch measurement in science education and Essentials of science classroom assessment. He also wrote a series of high-quality papers for the magazines and journals as Educational Psychology, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Journal of Science Education and Technology and Journal of Chemical Education.

 

President assistant Professor Ren Youqun, deputy director of the centre Li Shiqi and Doctor Liu had thorough talks. And all of them hoped that the cooperation in the field of scientific education research could be strengthened.
