Academic Seminar Held in School of Information Science to Celebrate our University’s Anniversary

On October 31st, Professor Ching Y. Suen of Canadian Royal Academy of Sciences visited our university on invitation during the period of our 57th anniversary.

 

Professor Ching Y. Suen made a report titled Modern Pattern Recognition Techniques and Applications to our teachers and postgraduates. He is the director of CENPARMI in Concoria University, doing researches in the areas such as computer optics, expert system and computing semantics.

 

This lecture mainly dealt with the introduction to Pattern Recognition Techniques and Applications. Professor Ching Y. Suen firstly introduced the definition of Pattern Recognition. Then he explained the fundamentals of word identification. Meanwhile, he gave some methods of assessing the quality of analyzing machines through some interesting cases. In the end, he answered some questions concerning the topic.
