In the morning of September 4th, the routine meeting for undergraduates’ teaching and learning of this term had been held in Room 403 of the Office Building on Minhang Campus. Vice President Zhuang Huiming, president assistant Ren Youqun, deputy directors of Teaching Affairs Office Wan Minxia and Xun Yuan, dean of each school in charge of teaching and learning, director of each department and other staff related to teaching affairs attended this meeting. President assistant Ren Youqun presided over the meeting.
During the meeting, president assistant Ren Youqun made a summary of 5 points on the undergraduates’ teaching and learning affairs in the first half of 2008. Firstly, curriculum construction began to bear fruit. Secondly, scientific training on undergraduates had been carried out substantially. The cooperation channels in and aboard had been expanded. Thirdly, the 3rd session of undergraduates’ teaching and learning affairs meeting had been successfully held. Fourthly, several constructions on textbooks, methodology and teachers for the free normal students had been initiated. Fifthly, applications for 2008 quality project had been fruitful. Then Ren stressed on the main focus of our work in the second half of this year, which weighed heavily on improving system construction, promoting reform of the credit system, supporting quality projects, creating new teacher education mode, implementing scientific training and practising of undergraduates, encouraging students exchanges, and accelerating constructions on teacher training and curriculum centre.
Deputy director of Teaching Affairs Office Wan Minxia gave a report on last year’s final examinations and this term’s enrollment, and explained the teaching schedule, hoping that each school and department could positively arrange the teaching and learning affairs, such as teaching and learning construction, teaching quality management, and teaching results application. Deputy director Xun Yuan also gave a report on the installation of the teaching practice of 15 disciplines, wishing that each school and department could pay great attention to teacher education and propaganda of the free normal student teaching. After that, some deans gave their suggestions on undergraduates’ supervisor system, blind test of their theses, re-learning of some subjects and evaluation on some youth teachers.
At the end of this meeting, vice President Zhuang Huiming made a conclusion, giving 3 requirements on this term’s undergraduates’ teaching and learning. Firstly, further promote the quality project construction implemented by the Ministry of Education. Secondly, further apply the spirit of the 3rd session of the undergraduates’ teaching and learning affairs meeting. Thirdly, further strengthen training of the free normal students, which ask for hard work in 2 aspects. One is to let the free normal students take a firm stand of their profession; the other is to stimulate their motivation on studies. Vice President Zhuang Huiming also hoped that everyone could adhere to our principle – Emphasis on Teachers, Textbooks, Methodology and Curriculum, give advice to our teaching and learning work, making joint effort to nurturing creative talents and striving for 1st class undergraduate education.
