“Call every new student from the disaster areas in Sichuan”, said Lin Zaiyong to all students’ counselors. In the meeting for new term students’ affairs and freshmen orientation ceremony, vice President Lin said, “As for the freshmen orientation, we should pay greater attention to the students’ from the disaster areas. Every counselor must call them, and ask them how they come here, how about their parents’ accommodations and whether they have difficulty in paying the tuition fee.
In the afternoon of September 2nd, the meeting was held in Room 403 on Minhang Campus. Vice President Lin Zaiyong attended and presided over the meeting.
In the meeting, every leader of functional departments had a review on some activities such as the psychological consultations and military trainings for some school masters and principals from Sichuan disaster areas, which was held to maintain social order during the summer vacation. They also gave reports on various work in the new term, stressing on the opening ceremony of the new term, green channel, support for the poor, safety education, logistical services and thanksgiving education.
Vice President Lin Zaiyong made the conclusion. He pointed out that there were 3 aspects that should be paid great attention to this year. Firstly, promote the building of students’ management network, which will enable us to help our students in a more scientific, systematic and timely way. Secondly, through supporting the poor students to complete their studies, we should solve more substantial problems of the students. Thirdly, communicate more with students, in particular, the free normal students. Meanwhile, when the graduates’ education mechanism is on reform, we should also talk more with them.
