On August 24th, President Yu Lizhong headed an expert panel of 18 to go to Dujiangyan for teacher training. Xu Xingguo, mayor of Dujiangyan, and other leaders of its Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Municipal Government respectively met the expert panel. As one of Shanghai’s cooperation programs to Dujiangyan, this training had been arranged by Shanghai Municipal Education Bureau and undertaken by our university. It is mainly to teach almost 1500 teachers psychological-help lessons and school security lessons. Those teachers are in charge of a class or working for moral education in elementary or high schools
In the morning of August 25th, the opening ceremony of security and psychological health training class had been held in the multi-function hall of Foreign Language Experimental School in North Road Elementary School in Dujianyan. President Yu Lizhong, vice president Zhuang Huiming, president assistant Ren Youqun, office director of Shanghai Municipal Education Bureau Zhang Weiling, member of the standing committee of Dujiangyan Municipal Committee of CPC, Propaganda Minister Chen Yangjie, vice mayor Yan Daixiong and head of Dujiangyan Education Bureau attended the ceremony. Vice mayor Yan Daixiong presided over it.
President Yu Lizhong expressed his respects and greetings to the teachers who have been diligently working after the catastrophe. President Yu pointed out in his speech that the reconstruction of belief is a new challenge for people in the devastated areas and Ministry of Education would undertake more responsibility. East China Normal University (ECNU), one of the key universities in China, is always trying to lead the teacher education. Cooperation between ECNU and Dujiangyan is just a beginning. ECNU will try hard to make contributions to the development of Dujiangyan’s education. During the ceremony, President Yu Lizhong presented books to Dujiangyan Municipal Education Bureau.
After the opening ceremony, President Yu Lizhong, vice president Zhuang Huiming, president assistant Ren Youqun, leaders of Dujiangyan Municipal Education Bureau and some representatives of the principals there had a meeting. After 3 hour’s discussion, we had clarified the objective and content of our future cooperation.
In the afternoon, accompanied by the leaders of Dujiangyan Municipal Education Bureau, President Yu Lizhong, vice president Zhuang Huiming and president assistant Ren Youqun had seen the schools hit by the natural calamity in Longchi town. And they went to Chongzhou to see the volunteers in our travelling kindergarten.
