09/02/2008

On September 2nd, John Molony, successor of the ex-vice president in charge of foreign affairs of La Trobe University, and Leon Lyell, its executive director of vice president’s office in charge of foreign affairs, had visited our university. They inspected the operation of the Sino-Australian Class, a co-training program, and discussed something about further cooperation. Our vice President Chen Qun met the guests on the North Zhongshan Road Campus. Director of the Sino-Australian Fu Xiangzhen and some leaders of the International Exchange Office also took part in the meeting.

Vice President Chen Qun and Professor Molony both gave brief introductions on current changes and strategic plan for the future respectively. The 2 parties agreed on further cooperation on the basis of the Sino-Australian Class and Research Centre for Australia. We both had great interest on co-training graduates and carrying out scientific researches together. Our 2 universities would make some detailed agreements later on.

Fu Xiangzhen, director of the Sino-Australian Class Program, gave a report to the representatives of the Australian party on enrolling students, draining qualified teachers, and lifting the standards of scholarship. We were both quite satisfactory of the growth and achievement of the Sino-Australian Class Program last 13 years.
