The 11th International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME11) closed in Monterrey, Mexico on July 13th. The congress had been held for a week. Among 3000 people present in the congress, the achievements of our representatives of Chinese mathematical education had gained great attention. In particular, our ex-president Wang Jianpan led “China national presentation on mathematical education” to attract many representatives world-wide. Wang Jianpan, Li Shiqi, Bao Jiansheng and Li Jun from our university’s mathematical education team made brilliant representations on cultural tradition of Chinese mathematical education, mathematical teacher education and Chinese characteristics of solving problems in the national presentation. On the invitation and through the organization of our university’s team’s, the representatives from Beijing Normal University and other universities voiced their views in the national presentation. In order to help the presentation, our mathematical education team, together with the propaganda department’s video studio, had made a 25 minutes video on special topic with great care. The video had been played during the presentation. And representatives present warmly welcomed the video and gave good reviews to it.
After completing the China national presentation on mathematical education, which had been prepared for nearly 2 years meticulously, on the invitation of the organization committee, Professor Li Shiqi of our university addressed about the current situation and the prospect of the East Asian mathematical education research, which won the congratulations and resonance from more than 3000 representatives present. On the invitation of the organization committee of the congress, Xu Binyan, Jong Qiping, Li Jun and Wu Yinkang presided respectively over “Development and New Trend of Junior High School Mathematical Education” “Research on Probability Teaching in School” and “Research on Mathematical Teacher Education” and they made vivid speeches on reform of mathematical curriculum, mathematical teaching in classroom and mathematical teacher education, which aroused ardent discussion among the representatives present.
