In the morning of July 3, tenure Professor of the department of Geography and Geoscience of North Carolina State University in America, Professor of Zi-Jiang Lecture, Xiang Weining has given a report titled the Supportment of Geography Information System (GIS) in the Research, Layout and Decision-making of Landscape Ecology – in the Case of the Estuarine and Coastal Research in our Science Building.
Through the case of the estuarine and coastal research, Professor Xiang Weining introduces the support of GIS in the research, layout and decision-making of landscape ecology. In the report, Professor Xiang firstly introduces the 3 main parts of landscape layout, secondly explains vividly how to apply GIS to the simulation of the definition and layout of the buffer region of the riverside through case study.
Professor Xiang explains the profound things in a simple way. And the students and teachers present get a further understanding of the relation among the research, layout and decision-making of landscape ecology, and they are clearer about the different functions of each part. Meanwhile, Professor Xiang also makes contrast and comparison between the researches of America’s and China’s, and among the different phases of America’s.
