ECNUer wins gold prize of “Golden Dolphin Award” at 13th Xiamen International Animation Festival

On November 12, Sun Yiyang, a student majoring in Digital Art from the School of Design of ECNU, won the Best Student Animation Gold Prize of “Golden Dolphin Award” with her work titled “He She He” at the 13th Xiamen International Animation Festival.

The “Golden Dolphin Award” at the Xiamen International Animation Festival is one of the most authoritative and influential events in the Chinese animation industry jointly supported by the government, the academia and the industry. It is also the only “China Demonstrative Festival Exhibition” certified by the ASIFA International Animation Association in China. This year, this event received a total of 2,916 works from 43 countries and regions, of which 107 animations accessed the final review.

In “He She He”, Sun made three personal pseudo-documentary animations based on the research of Congenital Insensitivity to Pain, Chondropathy, and Marfan syndrome. The author attempted to use the body as a common medium for establishing empathy and achieve the transformation of empathy from perception to personal cognition. 

In addition, “He She He” has also won many other awards both at home and abroad, including the first prize at the 8th National University Digital Art Competition, the “Human Values Award” at the Spanish New Talents Animation Festival, and the “Best Experimental Animation Award” at the Dubrovnik Film Festival.
