On the morning of 29th November, the signing ceremony between ECNU and Shanghai Mental Health Center was held, marking a new initiative by ECNU to steadily promote the integration of medical education and mental health education.
Xie Bin, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Mental Health Center Committee, and Gu Hongliang, Vice President of ECNU, attended the meeting.
Xie Bin, in his speech, spoke highly of ECNU’s efforts in the field of mental health education and counseling services. He said that, faced with new challenges and opportunities, strengthening the promotion of mental health is inevitable for the healthy growth of adolescents. The collaboration between medical institutions and universities to jointly promote the co-construction of faculty and scientific research platforms, improve clinical practice learning and internship mechanisms, and explore social psychological service models and working mechanisms covering adolescents, would be of great significance for innovating talent cultivation mechanisms and improving work efficiency. He also expected to strengthen cooperation and build a new integrated brand of medicine and education, so as to provide better psychological support for both teachers and students, and promote the expansion of the brand in serving society and university students.
Gu Hongliang pointed out in his speech that, by combining ECNU’s strengths in psychology, life sciences, physical education, health, and related disciplines, they could explore and promote coordinated development both in medicine and education. It would play a significant role in comprehensively strengthening and upgrading psychological health work in universities in the new era, and enhancing the mental health literacy of college students as well. ECNU features a long history of development in mental health education and counseling services, highlighting the depth of cases and strong influence in related fields. He further emphasized that the collaboration between colleges and hospitals in the field of mental health education would play an important role in promoting high-quality development, producing high-level research, and cultivating highly skilled talent. He looked forward to both sides forming mutual communication and sharing information, platforms, and resources, and working jointly to elevate related work to a new level.
In the future, ENCU will continue to integrate advantageous resources and deepen the integration of medicine and education in a strong, organized, and effective manner, so as to facilitate the popularization of psychological health knowledge, advance the education of excellence, and better serve society.
