This winter break, 103 students from ECNU have ventured abroad to embark on a global exploration journey. They visited cities such as Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), Paris (France), Tokyo (Japan), Oxford (United Kingdom), and Los Angeles and San Francisco (United States). The students engaged in dialogues with UN officials, visited international organizations, performed in-depth community research abroad and explored world-renowned university classrooms. Through their youthful perspective, they interpreted global governance, broke cognitive barriers through cultural exchanges, and shared China’s story with the world through ECNU’s distinctive academic perspective.
During their visit to the UN Office in Geneva, the ECNU delegation engaged in an intensive exploration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through a comprehensive program featuring expert lectures by senior UN officials, institutional visits, Model United Nations simulations, and policy advocacy letter composition, the students gained profound insights into the historical evolution, cultural significance, and global influence of the UN system. The curriculum focused on critical global issues including humanitarian assistance mechanisms, refugee protection frameworks, educational equity initiatives and global health governance.
ECNU has strategically prioritized the cultivation of globally competent young talents through its comprehensive “International+” initiative. The university has established a specialized leadership committee dedicated to international organization talent development. With a tripartite focus on fostering national identity, international outlook, and global competence, ECNU is committed to developing a new generation of Chinese youth characterized by academic excellence, critical thinking, proactive engagement, and visionary leadership.
In 2024 alone, ECNU successfully placed 32 students in prestigious international internships across various United Nations agencies. Through these comprehensive international training initiatives, ECNU students have significantly expanded their global perspectives, enhanced their cross-cultural communication competencies, deepened their understanding of global issues, and strengthened their sense of responsibility.
