ECNU plants a kind of beautiful flowers on campus every year as a special gift and blessing for the graduates.
This floral tradition dates back to 2014 when the university first planted some brilliant yellow sunflowers on Minhang Campus as a gift for that year’s graduating students. It was so popular among ECNUers that it started the university's tradition of planting a different type of graduation flower every year.
This year, ECNU celebrates graduation with 28,540 'Endless Summer' hydrangeas. The 'Endless Summer' hydrangeas, renowned for their extended blooming period and striking blue-pink hues, are expected to reach full splendor by late May.

The floral display will transform the campus into a sea of color, symbolizing the university’s enduring wish for graduates: a youth that never fades and memories that blossom across time.
Planted on April 10 by students and faculty, this 1,500-square-meter 'sea of flowers' will create a breathtaking tribute to the class of 2025.

"ECNU's soil holds more than the roots of these hydrangeas—it's imprinted with every dawn and dusk of my journey here," shared master’s student Song Xu, kneeling beside the freshly planted blooms.
"The thrill and frustration of poring over documents in the library, the professors who guided me not just with expertise but with genuine care … these fragments of memory are now buried alongside the flowers in this earth that have nurtured us all."
Stay tuned for the enveloping wave of blue and pink—a timeless memory for every graduate!
