04/18/2025

Students from East China Normal University (ECNU) achieved outstanding results at the 16th Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students, securing three national first prizes, three second prizes, and one third prize. Notably, this marks the fifth consecutive year that ECNU has claimed top honors in this competition.

The prestigious event, held recently, attracted over 320,000 students from 1,223 universities across China. After rigorous preliminary rounds, more than 1,200 students from 352 universities advanced to the finals, setting a record for the largest participation in the competition’s history.

To prepare participants, ECNU’s School of Mathematical Sciences organized pre-competition training sessions from September to November each year. Led by experienced faculty, sessions covered advanced topics such as Mathematical Analysis, Linear Algebra, and Higher Mathematics, providing tailored guidance to students aiming to shine in the national contest.

By integrating practice-oriented and problem-driven learning, the School of Mathematical Sciences has pioneered a cutting-edge talent development model, emphasizing deep learning core courses, high-level research programs, and interdisciplinary problem-solving approaches. In response to the AI era, the school has also introduced cross-disciplinary elective courses and innovative programs like “Mathematics+” summer camps, fostering students’ creativity and adaptability to modern challenges.
