On May 7, the International Costume Culture Festival, jointly organized by the School of International Chinese Studies, Daxia College, and the School of Design at East China Normal University (ECNU), concluded successfully on Xiayu Island by the Liwa River.
The festival kicked off with a spectacular fashion show, where Chinese and international students modeled traditional and modern attire, seamlessly blending cultural elements. In the Hanfu Experience Zone, participants engaged in immersive activities, including trying on traditional Han Chinese clothing, playing ancient games like Touhu (arrow throwing), and participating in word-chain challenges themed around clothing-related characters.
“The festival celebrates cultural diversity while fostering mutual understanding,” remarked one of the event’s organizers. “Clothing, as a universal language, transcends barriers and symbolizes the beauty of cultural exchange.”
This event not only enriched campus life but also underscored ECNU’s commitment to promoting cultural heritage and global citizenship. By embodying the principle of “appreciating each other’s beauty while sharing common aesthetics,” the festival vividly illustrated the significance of cultural mutual learning in the modern era, establishing itself as a dynamic stage for aesthetic education and cultural inheritance.
