It carries heartfelt affection for the university and fosters connections among ECNUers worldwide.

Nearly 2,500 alumni returned to East China Normal University (ECNU) on October 17 for its 2026 Alumni Day. The main celebrations took place on the Minhang campus, with additional activities on the Putuo campus.

The alumni represented 123 classes across 30 schools and departments. Alumni reunited with former teachers and classmates on campus to reminisce about their student days and share stories of their lives, careers and personal growth.

Lei Qili, vice president of ECNU, attended the opening ceremony of Alumni Day and warmly welcomed the alumni on behalf of the university. He thanked them for their longstanding support for ECNU’s development and looked forward to their continued engagement with the university. A multilingual music video titled “Love at ECNU” was unveiled at the opening ceremony.

Throughout the day, alumni returned to memory-laden classrooms for class reunions and caught up with former teachers and classmates. They also returned to campus dining halls to enjoy nostalgic dishes that brought back memories of their student days. Activities such as family sports, traditional Chinese seal carving gave alumni and their families opportunities to enjoy campus life and create fond memories together.

Organised by the ECNU Alumni Association with support from schools, departments and administrative offices, Alumni Day is designed as a chance for alumni, faculty and students to reconnect, exchange stories and strengthen the enduring bond between alumni and their alma mater.
No matter how far you have travelled or how many years have passed, ECNU will always be your home.
