Hospitality & Consideration
On September 8, both campuses of ECNU saw smiling volunteers with “ECNU welcomes you” signboards almost everywhere. They not only brought guide and help, but also care and warmth to new ECNUers.
At either registration spot on both campuses, a one-stop registration site was built for students in need, which was filled with functional windows of all the departments, providing fee-paying, registration, baggage-handling service, and so on. Furthermore, a Green Channel was also set on either registration spot where poor students could get help from student loans to funding consultation.
The Green Channel has been a tradition of ECNU registration day for years, aiming to resolve all the problems and worries of every new ECNUer who needs financial aids. This time, the “love gift bag” for poor students was equipped with books, 8GB USBs and other daily necessities.

For most new comers, the first day is too busy to feel the beginning of their new lives in ECNU. With the hustle and bustle of move-in day behind them, ECNU freshmen looked more settled into their new surroundings as they can find warm welcome and hospitality everywhere on campus.
On September 9, new students' second day in ECNU, most students had a campus tour with teachers' or senior students' accompany. Much to most students' unexpectation, the university's top leaders including Chairman of ECNU Council Tong Shijun, President Chen Qun, Vice Chairman of ECNU Council &Vice President Zhu Min, Vice Chairman of ECNU Council &Vice President Ren Youqun, Vice President Fan Jun, and Vice President Sun Zhenrong appeared as guides in person. They introduced the university's history and tradition to these students, and chatted with them from daily life to future plan.
Open to the World
New international students attend the opening ceremony for their new semester.
As a university open to the world, ECNU now sees more foreign faces among its students these years. In the university's Science Hall, more than 1300 new international students attended the opening ceremony for their new semester on September 6 morning. Among the new comers from various countries, there are over 400 degree program students.
In the coming semester, ECNU will host a total of over 4500 international students from more than 100 countries on campus, with Korea, U.S., Japan, France, Great Britain, Australia and Italy as the major source countries.
