“I have been studying in SJTU for four years, but today is the first time I’ve come to ECNU. I was so excited when I arrived at the school gate that I took several photos of myself at the gate.” Zhou, a senior student from the School of Mechanical Engineering, SJTU, said excitedly: “The campus of ECNU is particularly beautiful and the diversified Student Societies here are very interesting. I hope that ECNUers can invite us to enjoy the seasons of ECNU as much as possible and we also welcome ECNUers to the campus of SJTU.”
As the weather gets warmer, the cherry trees on the campus wake up as scheduled. ECNU ushers in the most charming season when more than 430 cherry trees are in full bloom. In the meantime, numerous intriguing campus activities are coming with the vibrant spring. For example, ECNU Student Societies Fair has finally returned after three years and was held simultaneously at the two campuses of ECNU from noon on March 29th, attracting many students.
It is worth mentioning that this year’s Fair has also invited the student delegation from its neighboring university, SJTU, to ECNU Minhang Campus. The small wish for a “neighborhood visit” has been realized in this spring, which has enriched the neighborhood.
The Spring Offline Job Fair, and the 35th Saving Food Month & the 9th Food Festival were also held at Minhang Campus at the same time.
Three years ago in the spring, President Qian Xuhong made a promise with students in the first “cloud” class saying “I look forward to seeing you again at the campus when the spring breeze gently blows and cherry blossoms.”
Three years later in the spring, 327 cherry trees are in full bloom on both sides of the 550-meter walk along the Cherry River on Daxia Road at Minhang Campus. The Cherry River seems to stretch out like a rosy ribbon of cloud, attracting staff and students to stop and enjoy, take photos, and go to the “Cherry Blossom Date.”
This year, more than 100 Student Societies from the two campuses return to the offline stage. The Fair is held on the two campus landmarks, Cherry Blossom Trail at Minhang Campus and the Lawn of Gongqingchang at Putuo Campus. The Student Societies covers 7 categories, including Ideology and Politics, Academy and Technology, Culture and Sports, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Self-discipline and Mutual Assistance, Volunteer Work and Comprehensive Practice. Not only do Student Societies provide a big platform for students to show their styles, exchange ideas and learn from each other, but they also represent one of the new vehicles of ECNU to cultivate students with culture, aesthetics and the spirit of pursuing excellence.
